A 15-year-old boy suffering from ROP V, sequelae of brain injury, and epilepsy syndrome can perceive light, walk independently for short distances, maintain a regular sleep pattern, and has restored normal heart function.
Muhammad Ahmed Mujahid, a 15-year-old boy from Pakistan, unfortunately suffers from Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP V), sequelae of brain injury, and epilepsy syndrome. Currently, he experiences visual impairment, recurrent seizures (primarily generalized), speech difficulties, motor and cognitive impairments, poor neck support, weak back muscles, reduced limb strength, and joint deformities. He can stand and walk with assistance but is prone to falling. He is on multiple neurological and psychiatric medications, yet continues to experience seizures approximately 2 to 5 times a day, each lasting about 10 to 30 seconds. His sleep is poor, with restlessness at night and prolonged daytime sleep, often accompanied by shouting when awake.
Before hospitalization, witnessing this boy's condition, one can only imagine the heartbreak of Muhammad Ahmed Mujahid’s family. Fortunately, due to the advancements in technology and the emergence of stem cell therapies showing positive outcomes for neurological disorders worldwide, Muhammad Ahmed Mujahid’s parents, with a mindset of trying their luck, researched various stem cell experts and hospitals around the globe through online resources, patient testimonials, and real success stories. They learned that Dr. Wu’s team has made significant achievements in the clinical treatment of neurological disorders with stem cells, and many patients treated for ROP Stage V are able to attend regular schools like normal children and return to their normal lives. This led them to believe that Muhammad Ahmed Mujahid's visual impairments, brain injuries, and epilepsy could improve after multiple treatments, prompting them to choose Wu Medical Center.
Dr. Wu, a seasoned expert in neurology and clinical stem cell therapies, has dedicated himself to researching and practicing treatments for human neurological diseases and multidisciplinary with 2 types of stem cells + CAST therapies. He possesses over 20 years of unique, original, safe, and effective clinical experience that continually sets new benchmarks in the global field of stem cell therapy, yielding remarkable success cases and innovations across various specialties, including neurology, ophthalmology, endocrinology, immunology, and neuromuscular diseases, along with an excellent reputation.
In just 2 weeks of hospitalization, the patient has shown significant improvements. Before treatment, his eyes were unresponsive to light, with the right eye showing white opacities. Now, his sensitivity to light has increased in both eyes, with visible light reflex in the left eye; when light is shone in the right eye, he stops his movements and attempts to locate the light source. His limb strength has improved from a pre-treatment grade 4- to 4+, and his motor agility has enhanced. Previously, he struggled with back strength, had a protruding abdomen while assisting with standing and walking, and was prone to falling. Now, his abdominal and back strength have increased, allowing him to move from lying down to sitting up more flexibly, and he can walk independently for short distances. His cooperation during rehabilitation training has also improved. Before treatment, he had poor sleep patterns, restlessness at night, prolonged daytime sleep, and frequent shouting when awake. Now, his sleep has become more regular, allowing him to sleep for 4 to 6 hours at night with a notable reduction in shouting; the dosage of nitrazepam he takes is gradually decreasing. His heart function has improved, with reduced arrhythmia, and his heart rate has increased from 54 beats per minute before treatment to a stable range of 70-80 beats per minute now.
Although Muhammad Ahmed Mujahid still cannot express himself, since coming to Wu Medical Center, he has gained a better perception of this colorful world, feels more energetic, sleeps soundly at night, and has restored normal heart function. This is seen as a success by his entire family during their visit to Beijing.
We will continue to monitor Muhammad Ahmed Mujahid’s progress and help him achieve further improvements!
