Helena Moyano-Retinopathy of Prematurity V-(Argentina)

Disease diagnosis: retinopathy of prematurity

Before treatment:
The child was a premature infant (24 weeks, natural labor,1140g) with a history of oxygen inhalation for 2 months. She was found to have no vision two and a half months after birth and was diagnosed as "retinopathy of prematurity grade V". There was no treatment in the local hospital, and her vision had not been improved since birth.

Admission for physical examination:
Blood pressure: 90/50mmHg, pulse: 88 beats / min, respiration: 24 beats / min, body temperature: 36.5C, normal development, good nutrition, no yellow staining of skin. There was no cyanosis in the lips and no redness and swelling in the oropharynx. Both lungs breathe clearly. The heart sound was strong, the rhythm was uniform, and there was no murmur in each valvular area. The abdomen was flat and soft, and the liver and spleen were not enlarged. There was physiological curvature of the spine and there was no edema in both lower extremities.

Nervous system physical examination:
The spirit was clear and the language was good. The diameter of bilateral pupil was about 3.0mm, there was no vision in both eyes, there was slight light sensation occasionally, the pupil of both eyes was slightly cloudy deposit, and the light reflex of both eyes disappeared. The movement of both eyes was inflexible in all directions. The bilateral forehead lines were symmetrical and the tongue was in the center. The neck was soft, the muscle strength of the limbs was grade 5, the muscle tension of the limbs was normal, the physiological reflexes of the limbs existed, and the pathological signs were negative. The depth feels normal and the coordinate movement was normal. Meningeal irritation sign was negative.

Fundus examination:
Abnormal vascular and fibrous hyperplasia and poor fundus blood circulation were seen in both retinas.

Treatment process:
The diagnosis of admission was "retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)". Mesenchymal stem cells and neural stem cells were given to repair retina and optic nerve, nourish retina and optic nerve, improve circulation, regulate immunity and comprehensive visual rehabilitation.

After treatment:
The eye movement of the children was obviously more flexible than before, the light sensation appeared in both eyes, the photosensitivity was improved, and the children could consciously avoid direct sunlight and reflect to light. The position of the light source could be located, and the deposition of cloud-like cloudy matter in the pupils of both eyes was reduced.

Fundus examination shows:
The blood vessels of bilateral fundus malformations were significantly reduced, the fibrosis was alleviated, the fundus was light orange red, and the blood circulation was improved.
